Let's Scratch Each Other

I have an iPod.
It has 19 songs on it.
I like about 3 of those 19 songs.

I have some sort of mental block when it comes to acquiring songs. I like a lot of music, I just can't remember the names of songs that I like.

I can't tell you how many times I've been watching a movie or driving in the car and hear a song I like. I make a mental note to jot it down so I can remember to get it for my iPod.

And then I forget.

My memory is a fickle thing.

Things that I remember:
- the phone number of the house I lived in when I was in preschool
- my father's social security number
- the pledge of allegiance, in Spanish
- lyrics to 90's rap songs

Things I cannot remember:
- pretty much everything else

So I thought that maybe you could help me. Leave me a comment with a song you love, one that you like to turn up the volume and sing along to.

And I will randomly select one of you and send you this:

You scratch my back and I'll scratch yours ;)

I ordered one too many of these sweet girls' hats off of Etsy. They're super cute and well made. Alex loves them, and always gets complements when she wears hers.
If you don't have a little girl, they make a nice gift!

So just leave me a song and you'll be entered to win.
Let's face it people, my comments section isn't exactly bursting at the seams, so your chances of winning something online have never been better.

I'll choose a winner on Wednesday, so get me some good music!

Oh, and you don't have to have a log-in to leave a comment, just leave it under anonymous-- but sign your name so I know who you are.

Thanks!

Oh! Your first contest! You're on the way to the tops my friend. Here's some of the songs in my "workout" folder of my itouch. I am embarrassed and equally pumped listening to them all:

Poker Face and Papparazzi - Lady Gaga
Hey Soul Sister - Train
Everything Britney Spears
Party in the USA - Miley
Single Ladies
All the Black Eyed Peas

Possibly some Chingy (Holidae Inn), Chris Tomlin, Christina Aguilera, Dr. Dre, Eminem, Gwen Stefani, J.T. (Justin.. but you knew that right?), Ludacris, Pink, Prince, The Pussycat Dolls, Usher,... and more 90's rap than you can shake a hip to

I'll admit, it's not a Christian song (and most of my other favs are Christian) but I could listen to it all day long.

"For the Widows in Paradise, For the Fatherless in Ypsilanti", Sufjan Stevens. Or if that's too calm, then "Kountry Gentleman", Family Force 5. If you get both, that would put you up to 21 songs, 3 of which you like.

Not sure what type of music you like, but I am in love w/ Jeremy Camp right now! He is a contemporary christian artist. I would recommend just about any song of his, but if I had to pick just one? Hmm...'Walk by Faith'..or 'This Man'. Hope you enjoy them!

HA!!!! The person you refer to a PTB has an Ipod and not only knows how to use it, but can remember what songs to put on it!

O goodness... My ipod is busting at the seems... I love Sara Barilles... "Love Song", I have some Janis Joplin... "Me and my Bobby McGee, I also love all of the Casting Crowns, Jimmy Needham, JJ Heller, The Beatles, and Addison Road... Hope this helps!!!
If you happen to have an I-phone there is an application called shazam... If you hear a song you like you turn on the app and it will store the song in a memory for you so that you can download it later... Just a thought... That is what keeps me sane LOL...

Your only sister, who has a little girl that didn't get a hat, should not have to list a song to win! :) Kennedy and I crank the volume in the car to Lady Antebellum -Run to You....Kennedy even knows the words :) Too much country music I guess!
You better show favoritism :)

poop in the potty by poopsmith. you can find it on playlist. since you have a little one.
i think you get two excuses for not remembering songs.
1. mommy brain
2. military wife brain

Uncle Kracker - Smile. If I win ... send to Corie for sweet Kennedy to wear w/ her cute jumpsuits.

Hey don't put me in the drawing so somebody with a kid can get that precious hat.

any song sung by Bon Iver (slowish, so not the best work-out music, but so freaking good)

Electric Feel by MGMT (really dancey, I bet Alex and Derek will like it; their other songs aren't as good, I don't think)

Heartbeats by Jose Gonzales (a cover, and a slow song)

Dela (I know why the dog howls at the moon) by Johnny Clegg & Savuka (that song they play in George of the Jungle when Brendan Frasier and Leslie Mann are dancing around the fire. I hope you know what I'm talking about.)

You can find them all on youtube to have a listen before you commit.

Opening my ipod now...
"Melody of You" by Sixpence
"Gradually" by Rosie Thomas;
"Stand" by Susan Ashton;
"Come Clean" by Harrod & Funck;
"Life is Beautiful" by Vega4-
"Shepherd of my Soul" by Rivulets & Violets;
"You are Always with me" - Sovereign Grace Music. Ha! Good luck finding those on the 'ol radio...how's that for non-mainstream?!
Ooo, here's one that had me rollin'. I'm like 3 years behind the times, but "Online" by Brad Paisley is hystercial...just youtube it and watch the video. Fun-ny!

What are you going to do with all of your new songs? I have a workout list with more upbeat ones, but my favorite?

Cinderella by Steven Curtis Chapman (mainly because I imagine Marina dancing with Justin to it at her wedding - sniff, sniff - all grown up).

Some other ones:
Give me your eyes by Brandon Heath
There will be a day by Jeremy Camp
The Barlow Girls & Eowyn are good for workout songs too.

And I still want to see one of those hats so I can write down the pattern ;)

Lol - PTB called you out! She's witty.

AND if by chance I win I would like to donate the hat to your niece. Or you can find me a baby girl to have of my own and in that case I would need the hat back.

CharityVL said...

Since my baby girls are 7 and almost 10, if I win, send the hat to Erin for Cora!
I love anything Switchfoot, particularly "24".
I am old. My favorite song might be In Your Eyes by Peter Gabriel.
My 12 year old son is on Playlist and he currently likes Remember the Name by Fort Minor and Fire Burning by Sean Kingston.

My favorite song right now is "Home" by Daughtry since we just experienced Dave's homecoming from Afghanistan. I have been blaring it and thinking how awesome it sounds seeing those jets landing and knowing he's home.

I love etsy too! Enjoy your hubby being home as well. Such a wonderful thing.

Hugs, Ashley Snodgrass

Since I already owe you another, let your niece know she already has one coming (just let me know the size) and use that one for the giveaway!!!

I don't know if any of these are repeats, but here are a couple I love:
"Halo" Beyonce
"Single Ladies" Beyonce
"I Gotta Feeling" Black Eyed Peas
"I'm Yours" Jason Mraz
"Right Round" Flo Rida
Love The Fray, Evenescence, Linkin Park, George Strait, and one of my most favorites up and coming is Ingrid Michaelson!
