It didn't happen.
Not because my car looked like this:
But because of the layer of ice that was under that white powder.
It was slickery.
The kind of driving when the car occasionally overrides the driver, because the anti-lock brakes decide that you won't be stopping at that stop sign after all.
They're only predicting another inch overnight, so if all goes as planned and some de-icing takes place, we will make the trek across the state tomorrow.
The kids were begging to go out and make a snowman, but the windchill was -7 degrees and I wasn't a cool enough mom to endure that kind of temperature.
I did let them play out the day before, when we only had a little snow but the temperatures were in the 30's.
Alex enjoyed a little snack, and I took the opportunity to teach her about yellow snow.
I loved waking up to the beautiful white world this morning.
Oh, and here's the same scene yesterday.
The deer had stopped in to use the WiFi but after reading the
post about my dad's house, they left in a hurry.
I think Derek finally put two and two together on how those woodland creatures ended up on his Pepaw's wall:
"You did WHAT??"
And now, if you'll excuse me, I need to go add wood to the fire and go to sleep.
I love the fireplace, I feel so Little House on the Prairie-ish.
Warm thoughts,

Burr Nelly! Be careful on those roads - aren't you glad you flew out instead of the cross journey trip of crazy? Stay safe!!
We have wood heat, so I feel like Laura everyday!
It has been too cold to snow here. I am ready for it to warm up.
I would love to see some snow soon. Just not wanting to drive around in it.
