A post without pictures is like...

...well I don't really know what it's like, but it's definitely no fun. So sorry up front, but I'm way lazy tonight and don't feel like uploading from my camera.
Anyway this is just a quick post to fill you in on the latest from our little troublemaker. (That would be Derek.)
The critter is still not enjoying eating food these days, so he will be having a procedure done on Friday to help us find out what is his major malfunction (name that movie!). They are going to do a scope of his esophagus and take some biopsies to help determine if his lack of eating is a result of silent reflux (silent because he doesn't throw up-- at least, I don't think so. If he does, he is very stealthy and makes it to the toilet) or another condition called eosinophilic esophagitis. Say that three times fast. Or just call it EE, like the doctors do. Anyway, this EE thing, though treatable with medication, is unfortunately a life-long condition. So if you're the praying type, please join us in praying for a safe procedure for Derek (general anesthesia this time!), and also for favorable test results that do not show EE.
But, as Alex and I were discussing at bedtime tonight over the fine literary piece "The Crippled Lamb", God made us all different and for a purpose. So no matter what we find out from this test, Derek is still our sweet son and perfect in our eyes.
Oh, and Derek would also like me to pass along to you that while he is anesthetized, they will also be violating him with a scope from the other end. Just for good measure. And if he understood what that meant, he would express great displeasure.
Thanks for your prayers!

Take it from someone who's been violated with those scopes a couple times now...it's not that bad! Really. The prep is the worst part and he won't remember any of it. I hope beyond all hope that he will continue to be your perfect, wonderful, amazing boy...which, no matter what everything says, he will be! I wish you guys the best. Hey, maybe he just wants cookies like Collin!

Geez whiz!! He isn't even 50 years old yet, and gets the scope..., he must be wise beyond his years.
Poor little guy :( Just make them make him sleepy before any IVs are put in! and, Derek's going to do just great, I am sure of it, so don't you guys worry at all. Hugs and kisses to you all.

...Dana told me to catch up on your post. I think the Christmas break erased some of those 'what to do to avoid work' tactics... and I'm bummed to see the issues w/ Mr. Derek. I do pray that they get to the bottom of it all. And it's a great thing Tricare is picking up the formula tab or you'd be asking 'would you like frys w/ that?' ... j/k you could alway revert to being nurse Schore!
