Yeehaw

In honor of the little Texan and Idahoan in our family, we headed on out to the local rodeo.

Yeehaw!
Alex entered the goat chase competition. Here are said goats.

Alex had her game face on.

Turns out that for the 5 & Unders they just hold the goats in place and it's basically a footrace to see who can get the ribbon off the goat's tail first.

Have you ever seen Alex run?

There are many terms that would be accurate to describe her running style: girly, bouncy, funny...not anywhere among those terms would you find the word "fast".

But she had fun anyway :) And she got a rope from the clown that's just perfect for ropin' her brother.
But somehow the rope has already disappeared. Turns out I've grown quite attached to that boy.

Called Out

The other day Alex asked me to help her with a workbook page she was coloring. I had my hands full at the moment and told her that I couldn't help right then because I needed to finish cleaning up the house.
Her response--
"Who's coming over today?"

I think I may need to pick up a little more often.

We've been having some...

... smile wearing

camel riding

hair growing

crib dwelling

egg hatching

slide riding

park playing

T-ball gaming

Fun!

That is, in between the
meltdown having
temper tantrum-ing
tortellini throwing
early rising
nap refusing
not-so-fun.

Can a smile be painful?

Several months ago, Alex started doing this weird thing where she'll force a painful looking smile after almost everything she says. It cracks me up, and I have no idea what it's all about, but for your viewing pleasure...here is a little clip of me interviewing Alex all about tee ball.

Strange, isn't she?

ps- anyone else think I was totally over the top in my last post with my attempt to make the sky bluer? Sorry, still working on learning more anything about editing.

Road Trip

This past weekend, Josh flew a jet down to Hill AFB near Salt Lake City for an airshow. The kids and I decided to make the short road trip to meet him for a little getaway. I'd say it was successful-- no major meltdowns on the 4 hour drives, mostly good sleeping all together in one hotel room, and lots of fun family time. Our friends the Larsons were there as well and the kids all had fun together :) Well, except for baby Austin who probably could have done without the constant poking and prodding from my baby-loving kiddos.

Some pics from the airshow...

There's just something about a man in a flight suit.

Maybe I should clarify...there's just something about my man in a flight suit.

I like it.
I like it a lot.

Are they cute or what?

And then there's this silly thing
Clumsy. Very clumsy.
But destined for greatness.

(That's his little buddy Ayden in the background. Remember him?)

Until next time...

A Small Victory...

As I type, Derek is in his booster seat eating plain whole wheat spaghetti noodles. He has been there for at least 25 minutes, and keeps asking for more. Totally a normal thing for most toddlers, but this is the first time he's been willing to try noodles, the longest he's ever eaten, and the most he's ever consumed in one sitting. Maybe one day we'll be able to take our almost 2-year-old off of formula!
Some shots of the man of the hour...
